Gewinnung und Darstellung

Indan kommt verbreitet im Steinkohlenteer, im Urteer und als Strukturelement in Indenharz vor. Es kann aus Inden durch eine katalytische Hydrierung ΓΌber Platin-Katalysatoren mittels Wasserstoff oder durch Reduktion mit metallischen Natrium in Ethanol hergestellt werden.cite-ref-abc-chemie-2-1[2]cite-ref-4[4]

Eigenschaften

Indan ist eine farblose FlΓΌssigkeit mit aromatischem Geruch, die bei Normaldruck bei 178 Β°C siedet. Die molare Verdampfungsenthalpie betrΓ€gt 49,2 kJΒ·molβˆ’1.cite-ref-roux-5-0[5] Der Feststoff kann in zwei polymorphen Kristallformen vorliegen. Verwendung

Indan kann durch Dehydrierung in Inden ΓΌberfΓΌhrt werden. Derivate (Indane) finden vielfΓ€ltige Anwendung als Antibiotika, Herztherapeutika, Insektizide und Duftstoffe (Moschus).cite-ref-12[12] Ein bekanntes Derivat des Indans ist Ninhydrin.
